Description

Anaerobic bacteria with a fermentative metabolism 2. Proteinaceous substrates, some single amino acids and few organic acids are fermented and utilised, however carbohydrates, fatty acids and alcohols are not 2. Cells are straight rods, which appear as single cells or in chains of two to five cells, and have a tendency to form aggregates of up to several hundred cells during growth 2. No relevant in situ data has been determined for the genus.
