Description

In pure culture Methylorosula are aerobic heterotrophs able to use a broad range of organic compounds such as sugars, polysaccharides, sugar alcohols and amino acids as carbon and energy sources 1. They are also facultative methylotrophs, which utilise C1-compounds, methanol and methylamines 1. The in situ physiology of Methylorosula has not been studied in activated sludge.
