Description

Fusicatenibacter are strictly anaerobic, sugar fermenters 1. Substrates of fermentation include glucose, lactose, sucrose, maltose, xylose, arabinose, cellobiose, mannose, and raffinose as examples. Lactic acid, acetic acid and succinic acid are products of glucose fermentation 1. Cells in pure culture possess spindle/rod shaped morphology, which occur in pairs and short chains 1. The in situ physiology of the genus in activated sludge has not been determined.
