Description

Proteiniclasticum are strictly anaerobic, proteolytic and fermentative bacteria 2. Cells are rod shaped appearing singly or in pairs 2. Carbohydrates are not utilised. The major fermentation products from PY medium are acetate, propionate, and iso-butyrate 2. Nothing is known of their in situ physiology in activated sludge.
